The 14th annual Dale Hawerchuk Charity classic was recently held at the beautiful Rocky Crest Golf Resort in the Seguin Valley of Muskoka. The Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic festivities kicked off the day before the tournament with a round of golf exclusively for the NHL stars and major sponsors of the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic. This golf outing was held at Seguin Valley Golf Course and featured 15 foursomes. The day commenced with a breakfast for all the participants running from 7 to 10 am. After breakfast, everyone went to the golf course for an 11 am tee time. After a good day of golf and an after golf reception in the Seguin Valley club house, everyone was at the Rocky Crest’s Bayside Lounge, which oversees Lake Joseph, for a VIP reception beginning at 7 pm. The reception started off with an hour of entertainment by Kraig Nienhuis with food and appetizers being served around 8 pm. The evening also consisted of a raffle, a spin-the –wheel and a 50/50 draw, giving the guests lots of opportunities to win some great prizes. After a great night of laughs and entertainment, everyone was back at it the next morning for another full day of activities.
Once again, a breakfast was hosted for the celebrities and sponsors. After breakfast, all the participants of the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic reported to the Rocky Crest Golf Club for registration beginning at 10 am. The raffle tickets and the wheel from the reception the night before were also present at registration, giving participants of the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic another chance at winning some great prizes. When arriving at their golf carts for an 11 am shotgun start, the participants found golf balls, towels and water already on their carts waiting. Throughout the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic, there were several sponsors giving samples of their products as the golfers went through various holes. These included Fit Kat being on a hole handing out chocolate samples, Iron Butterfly Blacksmith was on scene giving out samples of barbequed lamb and delicious butter tarts were being handed out by Don’s Bakery. The Muskoka Boat Gallery was also on scene showing off their finest watercrafts. At the end of the golf day all the celebrities participated in the Celebrity Shootout, which is a contest between the former NHL stars to determine who can hit their ball closest to the pin from the fairway. Throughout the day, tournament participants can wager on which celebrity they think will win, with the potential for a cash prize if their wager is correct. The Scotia Mortgage Authority also organized several additional on-course activities. These included a Cigar Hole, during which cigars, cutters and lighters were provided to participants, a FNF Beer Tasting Hole, during which everyone was given a Stella sample, the participants received a Caesar on the Caesar Hole and Biion Shoes was also present giving out brochures and business cards. The participants of the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic also received a variety of gifting items. Upon check in at Rocky Crest, they received a complimentary golf bag embedded with the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic logo. Throughout the golf day, participants also received a Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic t-shirt and hockey stick, Biion golf shoes, and a golf glove. Men received an Ashwood Sweater and women received a zip-up sweater, courtesy of Adidas and Taylor Made.
The Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic would wrap up with an outdoor cocktail reception on the patio at 7 pm with dinner beginning at 8:30 pm, and a live auction taking place throughout the dinner. Guests were also given some last mementos, a Budweiser Goal Light, courtesy of Budweiser, a Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic flag and an 8×10 photo that featured a group shot of the celebrities that participated in the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic.
