Easter Seals Celebrity Hockey Classic Series 2016

For a number of years now, Jackson Events and Easter Seals have proudly partnered up to host the Easter Seals Celebrity Hockey Classic  Series. The Celebrity Hockey Classic Series offers hockey enthusiasts the chance to play with former NHL greats in a two or three-game tournament, as well as the opportunity to meet and greet the players during an exclusive Draft Party the evening before. On Draft Party night, each team will draft one former NHL great to play on their team. A number of high profile, former NHL stars host their own Celebrity Hockey Classic. These players include former Toronto Maple Leaf captain Rick Vaive, 3 time Stanley Cup winner Paul Coffey, Philadelphia Flyers legend Eric Lindros and former Buffalo Sabres fan favorite Brad May. In addition to these player hosted tournaments, the counties of Huron and Bruce jointly played host to the Huron Bruce Celebrity Hockey Classic.

2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic in Winnipeg

Jackson Events was proud to be a part of the recent Winnipeg Heritage Classic, which took place in the form of a variety of events over 3 days from Friday, October 21st through Sunday, October 23rd.  The Winnipeg Heritage Classic featured 2 outdoor hockey games at Investors Group Field, a 40 000 seat stadium that both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL, and the University of Manitoba Bisons football team call home.  Several hockey legends from both the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers were in town for an action packed weekend that included the NHL Heritage Classic Alumni Game and the Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic Game. September Events

Throughout the month of September, Jackson Events has had a busy, but very fun and eventful month.  Featured in this story will be a few of the countless highlights throughout September at Jackson Events.

On September 12th, Jackson Events was proud to be a part of the 12th Annual IKO Charity Golf Tournament.  Founded in 1951, IKO is a pioneer world leader in producing top end roofs for virtually any type of structure.  IKO currently has more then 3500 employees in more then 25 plants throughout Canada, United States, England, Belgium, Holland, France and Slovakia, shipping roofing products to 96 countries throughout the world.  Jackson Events is proud to be affiliated with a top notch corporation by being apart of the IKO Charity Golf Tournament.  The event was held at the beautiful Station Creek Golf Course in Gormley, Ontario.  This year’s IKO Charity Golf Tournament was held for the benefit of the Bnei Akiva Schools of Toronto.  The proceeds from the event went to provide support for scholarships for students in need of financial assistance.   The event commenced festivities at 9:30 am with registration.  Following registration the participants had the opportunity to make use of Station Creek’s putting green and driving range while having refreshments and a light lunch.  Tournament play began with a shotgun start at 12 noon and was played in best ball scramble format.  As part of the tournament, participants could bid on having former Toronto Maple Leafs captain and fan favorite, Wendel Clark, join their group for 9 holes. Wendel Clark was highly visible throughout the day, signing autographs, including jerseys, took pictures and interacted with golfers during the course of the event.  The participants were also treated to a BBQ as part of their golf round.  The post golf cocktail buffet reception began at 5:30 pm with the event ending with Wendel Clark giving a short speech as part of the presentations, which also featured a raffle draw and silent auction, both which had great items.  Jackson Events would like to thank IKO, the tournament volunteers and the participants for making the 12th Annual IKO Charity Golf Tournament one to be remembered.

Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic-Winnipeg 2016

Hawerchuk Tournament LogoOn July 12th, hockey legend Dale Hawerchuk hosted his second Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic of the summer, with this one being in Winnipeg.  Dale Hawerchuk takes great pride in being able to host an event of this magnitude in Winnipeg, as it brings Dale Hawerchuk back to the city where he spent the first 9 seasons of his NHL career playing for the Jets.  During his time with the Jets, Dale Hawerchuk became one of the most popular athletes Winnipeg has ever seen.

pictureIn addition to Dale Hawerchuk, there were several other distinguished NHL alumni on hand for the Winnipeg version of the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic.  These include other former Winnipeg Jets stars Dave Ellett, Kris King, Scott Arniel and Jordy Douglas, as well as current Winnipeg Jets assistant coach and a member of the Edmonton Oilers dynasty of the 1980s, Charlie Huddy.  The New York Islanders championship teams were well represented with Billy Smith and Manitoba native Butch Goring in attendance.  Former Toronto Maple Leafs defensemen Al Iafrate, Ric Nattress and Brad May took part in the festivities, with Nattress acting as emcee for the event.  The celebrity guest list for this year’s Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic would be rounded out by former Montreal Canadiens centre Brian Skrudland, former New York Rangers teammates Larry Melnyk and Ron Duguay and former Buffalo Sabre Doug Bodger.

Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic Muskoka 2016

The 14th annual Dale Hawerchuk Charity classic was recently held at the beautiful Rocky Crest Golf Resort in the Seguin Valley of Muskoka.  Presented by the Scotia Mortgage Authority, this year’s Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic golf tournament featured 18 retired NHL stars, all of whom were eager to support the Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic’s cause of choice, Easter Seals Ontario.  A portion of the proceeds from this year’s Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic will be donated to Easter Seals Ontario, and used to help purchase mobile equipment and help fund opportunities to send kids to fully accessible Easter Seals camps.  The list of retired NHL stars taking part in this year’s Dale Hawerchuk Charity Classic is extensive.  In addition to Dale Hawerchuk, the tournament featured former Montreal Canadiens Peter Mahovlich, Steve Shutt, Brian Skrudland and Terry Ryan.  Several former Toronto Maple Leafs stars also participated.  These players include Al Iafrate, Kevin Maguire, Wendel Clark, Dave Ellett, Brad May and Mike Palmateer.  Other players participating included teammates from the New York Islanders’ dynasty of the 1980s Billy Smith and Butch Goring, Edmonton Oilers goaltending legend Grant Fuhr, Calgary Flames Stanley Cup champion Ric Nattress, former Nashville Predators star Scott Walker, former Boston Bruin Kraig Nienhaus and former Bruin and current Sportsnet and CBC hockey analyst PJ Stock.
