Lou Brock (MLB HOF ’85)

In his 20-year career as a Major Leaguer, there was no one faster than Lou Brock.  Playing for four seasons with the Chicago Cubs, he moved to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1965, where he went on to terrorize infields with his batting and base-stealing ability.  In fact, he led the National League in stolen bases for eight seasons (1966-1969, 1971-1974) and established a record of 12 straight seasons of 50 or more stolen bases.  A six-time NL All-Star, Brock led the NL in 1967 in at-bats and bases stolen, and tied Hank Aaron for most runs scored (136) -- it is no coincidence that the Cardinals won the World Series that same year.  Stealing 118 bases in 1974 gave him the modern single-season record for stolen bases.  This record lasted until 1982 when Rickey Henderson stole 130; it was also Henderson who eventually broke his all-time steal record in 1991.
