Jack Butterfield (HHOF ’80)
Jack Butterfield’s legacy in hockey cannot be overstated. Active in the AHL since World War II, Butterfield worked for various teams across North America until he joined the league office in 1957. In 1965, he became AHL president where he created a deal to create affiliations between individual AHL and NHL teams, a relationship that still exists today. At the time, this deal was vital to the survival of the league as both the NHL and WHA were rapidly expanding into AHL markets. He is deeply involved with each team, is a great philanthropist and a pioneer in the world of hockey management.
