
Kathleen Heddle
During her career, Kathleen Heddle has amassed a long list of top-three finishes at regattas the world over. In the 1992 Olympics at Barcelona, Heddle and partner Marnie McBean won gold in the Straight Pairs, and Eights. After a brief retirement, Heddle returned to compete in the 1996 Olympics at Atlanta, and won gold in the Double Sculls and silver in the Quadruple Sculls. Heddle and McBean became the first Canadian athletes in Olympic history to win three Olympic gold medals. In 1997, she was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. After her retirement, Heddle did a stint as chair of the International Federation of Rowing Associations (FISA), as well as doing work for Sport British Columbia.
