Peter Ihnacak
A crafty playmaker and solid checker, Peter Ihnacek spread his 20-year career over both North America and Europe. Starting in the Czechoslovakian leagues, he first garnered NHL attention after winning silver at the 1982 World Championships. The Maple Leafs drafted him 25th overall, using the pick they received from Philadelphia in exchange for Darryl Sittler. Along with Walt Poddubny, he set a franchise record with 28 goals as a rookie. After seven seasons with the Leafs, he began to spend more time with their AHL affiliate. He then looked to Europe where he spent his last seven playing years in the Swiss and German leagues. In retirement, he is still active with charity work with NHL alumni, as well as in his native Slovakia.
