Steve Larmer

A stalwart of the Chicago Blackhawks who led by example, Steve Larmer was drafted in 1980.  After winning the Calder Cup with Chicago’s AHL affiliate, Larmer stepped into the first team and made an immediate impact:  43 goals, 90 points and the Calder Trophy for rookie of the year.  He would score 40+ goals four more times, including a 101-point season in 1991 when the Blackhawks finished on top of the standings.  He set Chicago’s  “iron man” record with 884 consecutive games played.  He was a member of Team Canada when they won the 1991 Canada Cup.  Larmer finally left Chicago in 1993 when he went to the New York Rangers.  That year, he helped the Blueshirts win their first Stanley Cup in 54 years.  He retired after the following year and currently sits in the NHL’s Top 100 all-time points list.
