Reggie Leach
Drafted by the talent-rich Boston Bruins, Reggie Leach was traded to the California Seals after two half-seasons. After a couple of seasons in the hockey backwater of Oakland, Leach moved to the Stanley-Cup champion Philadelphia Flyers and helped them earn another Cup. In 1976, he scored 61 goals and won the Conn Smythe trophy, even though Montreal won that year. His 80 goals in both the regular season and playoffs beat Phil Esposito’s five-year record. After playing his last season with Detroit, Leach played a season in the CHL and then retired. He now operates a successful landscaping business. He also works with aboriginal youths to talk about the perils of excessive drinking.
