Ken Linseman

A scrappy, grinding, shifty centreman, Ken Linseman could irritate opponents like no one else.  After starting with Birmingham in the WHA, Linseman joined the Flyers in 1978.  He became a leading scorer and was pegged to succeed Bobby Clarke as team leader.  In fact, it was Clarke who named him, “The Rat”.  He achieved a reputation for needless penalties and was traded to Edmonton in 1982, via Hartford.  After he won a cup with the Oilers, he moved to Boston for five seasons where he became a thorn in the side of opponents.  He took particular pleasure in agitating Montreal because of the rivalry between the Habs and the Bruins during the 80s.  Linseman retired in 1992.
