Bernie Parent (HHOF ’84)

Originally a Boston Bruin, Bernie Parent moved to the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1967 Expansion Draft.  He helped the young team grow as their net minder but his stay lasted for only a couple of seasons: he moved to Toronto in 1971.  This did a world of good for Parent’s game, as the Leafs’ goaltending coach was his boyhood hero, Jacques Plante.  However, he left the team to join the WHA for a couple of seasons.  After this proved unsuccessful, he returned to the NHL and the Leafs traded him back to the Flyers where he became a legend.  Winning back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, Parent won the Vezina and Conn Smythe trophies both years.  Although an eye injury cut his career short, Parent cemented his place in hockey history.
