Kenny Reardon (HHOF ’66)
A tough and fearsome player, Kenny Reardon’s career was shortened by combat service in World War II. Signing a two-year contract with Montreal in 1940, he played for two years as the Habs’ enforcer. Joining the army from 1942 to 1945, he rejoined the Canadiens and was a large part of their 1945 Stanley Cup win. He retired before his 30th birthday because of injuries that he would ignore. After retirement, he became a successful scout for the Canadiens before becoming the team’s vice-president. It was during his tenure that Montreal won a record five consecutive Stanley Cups.
