Rene Robert
A member of the famous French Connection – with Gilbert Perreault and Richard Martin – this Buffalo Sabre was a lethal offensive weapon. Originally a Toronto Maple Leaf, he languished for three years in the minors before being picked up by Buffalo and then Pittsburgh. Robert eventually made his way back to Buffalo, where he began to shine. In 1974-1975, he scored over 40 goals and had 100-points. That year, he was a major part of the Sabres’ drive to the Stanley Cup finals. In 1979, he was traded to the Colorado Rockies and then the Maple Leafs. He retired in 1982 and is a past president of the NHL alumni association.
