
Bobby Smith
Bobby Smith was selected first overall by Minnesota in 1978. He started that year and made an immediate impact, winning the Calder Trophy. He led Minnesota to the finals in 1981 but was traded to Montreal in 1983 where he won the Stanley Cup with them in 1986. Although he went back to the finals in 1989, he was traded back to Minnesota in 1990. He again went to the finals that season but lost a hard-fought battle to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He retired in 1993 and was manager of the Phoenix Coyotes from 1997 to 2001. He is now the majority owner of the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads.
