Walter Tkaczuk
It was the coach of the OHL's Kitchener Rangers who first saw promise in the young and skinny forward. However, after getting a few years under his belt, Walter had filled out and had developed into one of the team's top players, earning himself a spot as a First Team OHA All Star. Walter was picked up by the New York Rangers in the 1968/69 season and after just a short time he found himself a home on the "Bulldog Line" along side Bill Fairbairn and Dave Balon. Walter gained the reputation around the NHL as being a very hard working and determined player, as well as a great leader for all those around him. After 14 successful seasons with the New York Rangers, Walter retired due to a serious eye injury. However, he continued on as an assistant coach for the Rangers for another two years.
