Ed Van Impe
Not known as a skill player, Ed Van Impe was intelligent, determined and definitely tough. Languishing in the minors as an enforcer, he finally got a break in 1966 with the Chicago Blackhawks. After a single season with 111 PIMs, he was left unprotected and picked up by Philadelphia. His rough style fit right in with the Broad Street Bullies and he became known as one of the team’s consistent blue liners. He was a member of the team when they won the Stanley Cup in 1974 and 1975; however, he was traded to Pittsburgh in 1977. He only played 22 games before retiring. He is a member of the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame and the president of an insurance company.
