Kinsmen Sports Dinner

A bit of follow up to the hockey stick story from the past Kinsmen Sports Dinner with Doug Gilmour.

IMG_9377I grew up in a family of 6, my dad a die hard leaf fan, my brothers wings and habs fans and I inherited the Leaf jean from my dad, i’m talking eat, sleep, drink leafs.

As a family of 6 with one working parent we didnt have a lot of money, so in March 1996 when we scheduled a trip to Edmonton to watch the Leafs and Oilers it was a big deal. It was all of our first nhl games (i was 10 at the time), there was my family as well as some aunts uncles and cousins that went.

We were sitting 3 rows behind the net, right were the Leafs come out of the tunnel on to the ice. Myself, my two brothers and a couple uncles and cousins all had our shirts off with maple leafs painted on our stomachs.

Heart & Stroke Hockey Heroes Weekend in St. John’s

The Heart and Stroke Foundation Hockey Heroes Weekend took place for the fourth time in Newfoundland on May 26th – May 28th, 2017 at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. The event offers participants an opportunity to play hockey with NHL alumni. Some of the greatest NHL heroes have shared the ice with Hockey Heroes Weekend participants like Wendel Clark, Paul Coffey, Ray Bourque, Denis Savard, Gary Roberts, and many more!


Villanova College Celebrity Hockey Classic

The Inaugural Villanova College Celebrity Hockey Classic was on May 11-12, 2017 .The draft party was held at Wendel Clark’s Classic Bar & Grill in Vaughan and the main tournament was at the Aurora Community Centre. All funds raised went to support Villanova College. Villanova College is the only independent, Catholic school in York Region that serves students from grades 4 to 12. The school is rooted in the rich tradition of the Augustinian family of schools in North America dating back to the founding of Villanova University in 1842 in Philadelphia, PA. The support from the tournament will assist Villanova College in completing the first phase of the new artificial field turf for football, soccer and field hockey. The $2,000,000 field turf project will not only serve our extensive women and men’s athletic programs, but will also serve the recreational programs in the Township of King.

Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni Rotary Club of Barrie Game

The Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni played against the Rotary All-stars for the Rotary Club of Barrie’s fundraising hockey game that was held at the Barrie Molson Centre on Friday April 21st. Fans could watch the game, collect autographs, take selfies and participate in the VIP pre-game skate with the Leafs and rub shoulders with them at a post-game VIP reception.
