Catriona Lemay Doan
Biography
Catriona LeMay Doan is the fastest woman on ice. After carrying the Canadian flag at the 2002 Salt Lake City games, LeMay Doan defended her Olympic title with a Gold medal in the 500m event; she became the first Canadian to defend a Gold medal at any Olympic Games. She is the 500m world-record holder – which she has broken eight times — and has the Olympic record time of 37.30. In 1998, LeMay Doan won her first Olympic Gold medal in the 500m then added an Olympic Bronze Medal in the 1000m. Catriona’s wins earned her the 2002 Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s Athlete of the Year. As well, she is a three-time recipient of the Canadian Female Athlete of the Year award. In addition to being a world champion athlete, Catriona is a talented motivational speaker. She is an articulate and engaging presenter, exploring methods of achieving personal excellence while motivating people to achieve their full potential.
