Biography

Known as an improvisational comedian on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Colin Mochrie first got into theatre when a friend persuaded him to try out for a play while a high school student in Vancouver. After graduating high school, Mochrie attended Vancouver’s Theatre 58 school for 4 years. It was during this time that Mochrie discovered his love for improvisational comedy. Starting out with small groups and performing in front of small audiences, Mochie’s career took off after he auditioned for Whose Line Is It Anyway? for the 2nd time, this time making the cut. He remained on the British version of the show until the show shut down in 1998, after which he transferred to ABC’s American version of the show. He would remain a regular cast member until the show’s finale in 2006. Mochrie has since appeared on several additional television shows, such as This Hour Has 22 Minutes, The Drew Carey Show and as host of the Canadian version Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? Mochrie currently lives in Toronto with his wife, comedian Debra McGrath, where he continues to appear on television shows and movies.
