Curt Harnett
Biography
One of Canada’s most decorated cyclists ever, Curt Harnett is a five-time Olympian, winning silver in Barcelona (1992) and Atlanta (1996), as well as a bronze in Los Angeles (1984). A member of the Canadian national team for 13 years – remarkable for his sport – he is also a World Cup sprinting champion, a Pan American games champion and two-time Canadian sprinting champion. Harnett has continued his success off of the track by campaigning to develop youth sport programs. He was an executive member of the Toronto Olympic bid and is a frequent commentator on CBC Sports for cycling events, including the Athens games in 2002. Harnett is a gracious and knowledgeable public speaker and is a passionate proponent of amateur sport.
