Dave Maloney was a physical defenseman who joined the New York Rangers’ organization in 1974. After two years in the minors, he secured a spot in 1976. In 1978, he became the Blueshirts’ captain and led them to the Stanley Cup finals. He stayed with the team until 1985 when he was sent to Buffalo. After finishing off the season, he promptly retired. He has worked as a hockey analyst for Fox Sports and as a Wall Street stockbroker.
