Biography

Jacques Laperriere (HHOF ’87) was a key member of the Montreal Canadiens dynasty from the 60’s and 70’s. He joined Montreal in 1963 and his 30-point performance – as a defenseman – earned him the Calder Trophy that season. He won four Stanley Cups in the 60’s and earned the Norris Trophy in 1966. Laperriere was a giant in the 1971 playoffs, scoring four goals and 13 assists to help Montreal to yet another Cup; he would do the same in 1973. After retiring with six Stanley Cups, he won two more over his 16-year tenure as an assistant coach with the Habs. After his playing career, Laperriere got into coaching. He has served as an assistant coach of the Canadiens for 16 year and also had stints the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils.
