Jim McKenny
Biography
Known as “Howie” to a younger generation of Toronto sports fan, Jim McKenny joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1965. However, it took him five seasons to earn a regular spot in the line-up. In that season, he had eleven goals and 44 points, which was decent for a defenseman. However, his risk-taking sometimes infuriated his own goalie. He remained a Leaf through most of the 70’s until he was traded to Minnesota. After 10 games, he retired. McKenny was also a popular sports anchor for CITY-TV’s City Pulse in Toronto until 2009.
