Joanne Malar
Biography
A winner of over 70 international medals, Joanne Malar has been a member of the Canadian National Swim Team for over 11 years. She is a three time Olympian and has been national champion an astounding 30 times. She is the Canadian, Pan-Am Games and Commonwealth record holder for the 400m and has won Gold Medals to match. She was the number one female swimmer in the world in 1995-1996 and 1999-2000. After retiring in 2000, she returned to competitive swimming in 2003. At the 2003 Pan-Am Games, Malar won a gold medal and came fourth in two other events. She retired for good in 2004.
