Joe Mullen
Biography
Joe Mullen (HHOF ’00) was the first American-born player to score 500 goals and 1000 points in NHL history. Signed by St. Louis in 1979, he was called up in 1981-82 and had 59 points in 45 games. His personal high came in 1984-85 when he had 92 points. He was traded to Calgary in 1986 and went to the Stanley Cup finals. The next season, he won the Lady Byng trophy and helped Calgary win the President’s Trophy the following season. In 1989, he had his first 50-goals season and won the Stanley Cup. Calgary traded him to Pittsburgh in 1991, where he won two more Cups. He spent the 1995-96 season in Boston before returning to Pittsburgh. He retired in 1997.
