Paul Gillis
Biography
A defensive centre, Paul Gillis played over 600 games for the Quebec Nordiques, Chicago Blackhawks and Hartford Whalers. Drafted by the Nords in 1982, he got his first taste of the majors in 1983 where he excelled at killing penalties. After nine seasons, Quebec traded him to Chicago and then, in turn, to Hartford where he had limited opportunities. After retiring in 1993, he became coach of Hartford’s AHL affiliate in Springfield, followed by time as an OHL coach in Windsor and Guelph and the UHL with the Quad City Mallards in Iowa. Most recently, Paul Gillis served as head coach of the Odessa Jackalopes of the NAHL.
