Ron Maclean
Biography
Best known for his role on CBC’s Coach’s Corner alongside Don Cherry, MacLean is also the former host of Hockey Night In Canada, having hosted the program from 1987 to 2014. MacLean got his start in broadcasting in 1978, appearing part-time on the radio station CKRD-FM. MacLean eventually worked his way up to a weather presenter with CKRD-TV. MacLean started working on CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada for the 1986/87 season. Initially covering games taking place in Canada’s Western region, MacLean was moved to Toronto to take over as the program’s host after Dave Hodge’s departure. MacLean would stay in this position until 2014, when his role shifted to host Sunday night hockey broadcasts in addition to Coach’s Corner. Throughout his career, MacLean has won 8 Gemini Awards.
