Robert "Bob" Hartley is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach renowned for his success across various leagues, including the NHL and the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Hartley's success led him to the NHL, where he served as head coach for the Colorado Avalanche from 1998 to 2002. During his tenure, he led the Avalanche to a Stanley Cup victory in 2001, among other accomplishments. Following his time with the Avalanche, Hartley coached the Atlanta Thrashers, leading them to significant achievements such as their first playoff berth in franchise history in 2007. He then ventured into international coaching, including a stint with the Latvian men's national ice hockey team, where he achieved notable victories, including a historic win against Canada in the 2021 IIHF World Championship.
