Bio

Considered by many to be the best-ever defensive forward in hockey, Kurri spent much of his career on the right-hand side of The Great One.  Edmonton selected Kurri in 1980 and, after being placed beside Wayne Gretzky, a lethal scoring combination was born.  He scored 100 points in 1981 and 50 goals in 1982, the first Finn ever to do so.  He won four Stanley Cups in five years with the Oilers and recorded 135 points in 1985, a record for right-wingers.  After Gretzky was traded, he continued to score and helped the Oilers win a fifth Cup in 1990.  He was the 25th player to score 1000 points, doing so in 10 seasons.  After moving to Italy for a season, he rejoined Gretzky in Los Angeles and spent five years with the Kings before bouncing to the Rangers, Anaheim and Colorado, where he scored his 600th goal.  He is the highest scoring European NHLer of all time and sits third in all-time playoff points.
