Jayna Hefford is a former professional ice hockey player. At her first Olympics in Nagano in 1998, Team Canada took home the silver medal, but in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014, Hefford and her team would take home the gold medal for Olympic Women’s Hockey. She took home 7 gold medals and 5 silver in the IIHF World Women’s Championships between 1997 and 2013. In 2016, the CWHL introduced the Jayna Hefford Trophy in her honour, awarded to the most outstanding player in the regular season, voted by CWHL players. In 2018, Hefford was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and was a recipient of the Order of Hockey in Canada in 2019 and is the Executive Vice President of Hockey Iperations for the PWHL.
