Jim Ralph, born on May 13, 1962, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, is a retired professional hockey player turned media personality. While playing for the Ottawa 67's, Ralph ventured into broadcasting as a summer fill-in announcer on CHAS-FM in Sault Ste. Marie. Despite being drafted by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft, Ralph's hockey aspirations were cut short due to a serious knee injury. Subsequently, he transitioned to a career in broadcasting. Ralph gained prominence as the color commentator for the Toronto Maple Leafs on AM640 Toronto Radio from 1997 to 2012. Since 2013, he has continued his broadcasting career on Sportsnet 590 The Fan and TSN 1050.
