Jimmy Howard is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who played the majority of his career with the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on March 26, 1984, in Syracuse, New York, Howard was selected by the Red Wings in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Howard made his NHL debut with the Red Wings during the 2005-2006 season and became the team's starting goaltender in the 2009-2010 season, succeeding Chris Osgood. He played a crucial role in the Red Wings' success during his tenure, consistently ranking among the league's top goaltenders. Throughout his career, Howard earned numerous accolades, including being selected to the NHL All-Star Game in 2012 and 2015. He also represented the United States in international competitions, winning a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
