His standout performances caught the attention of NHL scouts, leading to his selection by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Bieksa's tenure with the Canucks spanned over a decade, during which he became a stalwart presence on the team's blue line. Following his time in Vancouver, Bieksa went on to play for the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks before announcing his retirement from professional hockey in 2019.
