Bio

Melissa Bishop, a native of Eganville, Ontario, put the track world notice with thrilling silver medal performance in the 800m at the 2015 IIAF World Championships in Beijing. Her time of 1:57:52 shattered a Canadian record that had been in the books for 14 years. The former University of Windsor Lancer (she won multiple golf medals in the 600m and 1000m at the CIS Championships) won 800m Gold at the 2015 Pan American Games, ran the same distance at the London 2012 Olympic Games (finishing 30th) and raced in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, finishing 8th in the 800m and 5th in the 4x400 relay. In the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Melissa placed fourth in the final heat with an impressive 1:57:02 again breaking the Canadian record, and holding it to this day. She also participated in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
