Best known for his tenure with the Chicago Blackhawks, Tony Amonte played 15 seasons in the NHL for the New York Rangers, Chicago, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers and the Calgary Flames. After a steller college career at Boston University, Amonte made his NHL debut with the Rangers in the 1991 playoffs. Never playing a game in the minors, Amonte made the jump to the NHL fulltime with the Rangers in 1991-92 finishing third in balloting for the Calder Trophy as NHL’s rookie of the year. Throughout his career, Amonte was also a regular on Team USA on the international stage. He scored the game-winning goal in the championship game with two and a half minutes left against Canada to secure the 1996 World Cup of Hockey title for the United States. For over 10 years Amonte was the head coach of the Thayer Academy varsity team, where he himself had played in the late 1980s. He is currently a scout for the Florida Panthers.
